I know I'm a hypocrite...

I must apologize that I haven't been commenting very much-not even on my own blog! I'm writing this from a cool new browser on my new install of windows xp. Some people might know that our family bought a new computer, and it went to me since I'm the "super user" of the house, and of course all the problems come to me as well.

So I got this new machine, but of course it comes with a whole ton of junk that does nothing but slow the computer down. I decided I don't want to use this, and did some "partitioning"(for those of you who don't know basicly setting aside allocated space for storage). It worked fine, but as soon as I got rid of a partition(space set aside by whoever built the computer)-the whole thing crashed.

I have my own install and a product key that came with the computer-I called Windows up and asked them if I can use this product key with my own cd. "No, sorry sir that is impossible. The product key is tied to the cd."... I said "Um.. no I don't think so." She puts me on hold(speaks to supervisor I believe) and says "You need to get the cd that has the software for your computer."... I said I don't think that's technically correct-she hung up on me.

After that I tried using my cd and the product key, and surprise surprise it worked-the girl had hung up on me after lying to me. While I did get it installed, it wasn't working quite right. Last night my comp-geek neighbor came over and supervised me reinstalling.

So yeah-this explains why I haven't been blogging... thanks to getting a "new computer". Sorry for those not technically minded, but I need to tell someone all my woes :p

Still working on getting that directory working-if you notice that some of the links don't work please comment with the correct link. Hoping to do some sort of design for easy blog access.

I hope this post somewhat makes up for not commenting, and as soon as I get my computer in total working order tonight-I'll make the rounds.

xp....humbug! Use fedora any day ;)

Have you installed FC5 yet?

Yeah, I pretty much comprehendedid every thing you said.

And about your links, it's easier just to do it where the links are SUPPOSED TO GO, you know. More user-friendly. ;-P

And yea you are such a hypocrite. Don't ever go for a preacher.

Oh, you should sue those people for lying.

I hate xp man! For your information I had my neighbor over last night and we tried centos which was a bad cd, so we did install fc5, but for some reason KDE didn't install, and I didn't have a cursor at first. Had to change an init file to get my cursor, and I can't open network settings since I get "locale.Error: unsupported locale settings".

I think I might go for a reinstall, but I really want someone to look over my shoulder to do it. I'm too timid :p

xp is the bomb. :)

btw my link doesn't work.

Which command are you using for the network settings?
If you use the system-config-network-gui, it should work.
If that doesn't work, try system-config-network-tui (text mode)
Oh, btw, I installed PCLinuxOS on my jump drive and made it portable...it's pretty sweet.

And your neighbour is the computer geek?

lol

yeah I 'comprehendedid' most of it but man don't ever ask me to do something like that... your computer might blow up.

lol, I pretty much blew my old power box. I still get to have the satisfaction of smashing it to pieces. I can't wait!

And...my monitor died. Man,...now THAT will be fun to smash!

Or blow up. I haven't decided which one yet. :-)

Definetly blow up.

Last time I tried an explosion it didn't work...

I'm not sure, I mean, it does feel really good to smash something to pieces, you know. Especially if you're mad?

:-)

Maybe I'll save it for if I have you all over in Feb or something.

sweet i say explode it:D but wait for me to see u do it:D

whats with all the exploding talk around here??

oh yeah.. Aaron you'll have to change my link.. cuz my addy is http://www.i-canonlyimagine.blogspot.com..

Well, you could say better to be mad at computers than eachother!

Though computers are pretty essential in some of our lives...

Which is why we get mad at them when they don't work...

Which is why we want to explode them!!

Understand now? lol

Man our conversations really stay on topic...

Aaron where are you man? You are a hypocrite!

But we'll forgive you, I think.
